The Gallery at De Montfort holds exhibits throughout the year, but it is slightly off the main path through the centre of the University, and they felt they could do more to brand themselves and advertise themselves in a family friendly way that would increase footfall.
I chose to use a combination of simple geometric shapes and colours to brand their events and give the gallery a simple, recognisable brand that would also be able to adapt dependent on the exhibit that they were currently showcasing or event that they were involved in. The simplicity of the shapes and colours meant the imagery could be altered every time to avoid becoming repetitive but also be recognisable as connected to the gallery.
To showcase the branding and its usage I designed an events calendar as a brochure, posters, flyers and some signage. Each event/exhibit had colours taken from the imagery provided or the art in the exhibit to distinguish between them. I also created an animated website scroll to see how the brand may be used on a mobile ‘what’s coming up’ page.
