For our degree show we needed to create a publication that would show off the current students work in a manner that caught attention but allowed the students work to stand out on its own. We had just finished our first year within a new studio space and the lecturers thought it would be a good idea to incorporate this into the project.
Emma Piper and I worked together on this project, and we decided to create two publications. The first would be to showcase the current students work and various discussions with current lecturers and former students that became inhouse designers and stayed on to become lecturers.
The second would be a newspaper style publication that would contain interviews with people from all corners of the creative industry that we contacted to discuss their studio spaces and what they felt was needed from a studio space.
We were given a budget by the university to create the final pieces, we contacted paper supplier GF Smith to determine the papers we would be using and decided on various weights and styles that we felt would work well. We also utilised the Risograph printing facilities we had at the University to create bold single colour print pages for certain sections of the booklet. All the booklets were handmade, cutting, folding printing and binding.
